Melville, NY — March 15, 2010 — Steris Corporation and VTS Introduce the Harmony iQ™ 2100 Integration System
New integration technology offers more space, flexibility and useful applications for the operating room.
In today’s advanced surgical suites, integration technologies typically occupy a stacked tower or rack and take up significant space in each operating room. Understanding that physical space is always precious and equipment flexibility is extremely useful in this constantly active environment, STERIS Corporation and VTS Medical Systems, LLC have developed a very compact high-definition integration solution. The Harmony iQ 2100 Integration System has a much smaller footprint than rack-based integration systems and offers more flexible placement options.
“With decades of experience in OR design, planning and implementation, STERIS has become the industry expert at achieving balance between clinical function, human ergonomics and construction quality,” said senior product manager David Johnson. “The new Harmony iQ 2100 system is another example of a STERIS technology improvement that supports highly advanced surgical procedures while it also simplifies form and function within the room.”
The Harmony iQ 2100 technology provides a flexible system for routing and controlling sources and destinations within a single operating room. The unit is very compact (19" wide and 15" high) and orchestrates the operating room without crowding it. This all-digital system’s conduit requirements are also smaller and typically less expensive than those for analog cable bundles. Like all other Harmony iQ solutions, this system is compatible with virtually any camera, imaging device, navigation equipment or computer display.
The iQ 2100 system includes a bright, surgical grade optical touch panel monitor that delivers improved tactile responsiveness over traditional resistive touch panels. It can also serve as a high-definition monitor on the nurse’s desk. This touch panel is designed for the surgical environment and is sealed to allow frequent surface disinfection. The system includes connectivity for remote diagnostics and an online service call feature to connect with technical support directly from the touch panel. A number of useful application options, such as equipment in-service videos and a new surgical safety checklist based on the World Health Organization’s guidelines, enhance its value to OR staff.
Every Harmony iQ Integration System provides a simple, single point of control to route all of the images, video, audio and data that a surgical team needs to any monitor, recording device or remote location. The system is designed to enable each device routed through it – regardless of the manufacturer – to perform at its optimum level. In addition, every Harmony iQ Integration System features an open architecture to elegantly handle a hospital’s current equipment and adapt easily to a hospital or surgeon’s future needs and growth.
