Gastrointestinal (GI) room design and its current equipment represent a perfect application for VTS procedure room integration. These rooms can be designed and utilized more efficiently to provide improved patient care, physician ergonomics and rapid room turn-over. VTS integrates GI rooms in both hospitals and private practices.

Traditionally, the equipment in these rooms is cart mounted and the monitors used are Cathode Ray Tubes (CRTs) which can be either cart or wall mounted. The cart, holding the monitor and equipment, is moved from room to room. This design causes cables to be on the floor that have to be pushed away to prevent tripping or roll-over by the cart. Also, once the procedure begins, it is difficult to reposition the cart and the monitor especially if the CRT is wall mounted.

VTS’ GI Procedure Room Integration solution employs a lightweight, wall mounted, articulating monitor arm that can be mounted anywhere in the room without the need for extraordinary structural engineering due to a unique VTS mounting design. Therefore, a construction budget or physical plant infrastructure redesign is not required.

VTS’ integration solution can also include a VTS high definition, flat panel 19" LCD monitor mounted to the lightweight monitor arm. This monitor can be positioned on the arm for placement on the left or right side of the patient. VTS installs wall mounted “Guest Ports” to connect additional equipment providing rapid connect/disconnect for optimal room turn-over. VTS’ solution is ideal for the retrofit of an existing room as well.

VTS’ Touch Panel provides ergonomically designed room control. The Touch Panel controls video routing, digital capture and the control of lighting in the room, all in the same place with the touch of a button. The ability to provide a central point of control for most common functions including but not limited to room lighting and digital video capture:

  • Improves productivity of the healthcare professional
  • Improves efficiency of the procedure room design
  • Improves procedure room turnover due to better room design, efficiency and shortened housekeeping time

VTS is vendor neutral, which protects your investment in current and/or future equipment vendors.

VTS’ integration strategy works equally well with new construction or a retrofit environment. We work closely with the hospital’s architect and facilities management personnel. Our objectives are always to avoid disruption of daily routine and patient care.

VTS offers the products and services of a GI procedure room integration solution as individual entities. For example, the lightweight monitor arm, monitor, touch panel and integration services can all be purchased and/or integrated together or separately.
