OR Integration Methodology
The first step in VTS OR Integration Methodology is to provide our clients with insight as to what an OR integration system really is and how it will help to improve patient outcomes. We fully explain both current and emerging video and audio integration technologies, clearing up any confusion and setting realistic expectations for the functionality of the completed system. VTS provides OR intergration systems

Operating room integration designTo design an Operating Room Integration system, VTS performs a comprehensive assessment of our clients needs.

  • VTS correlates the AV services required in each OR
  • VTS determines the required AV services and locations and destinations for all sources both internal and external to the OR
  • VTS works with the hospital staff and architect, if applicable, to meet the OR objectives
  • The goal of our design is an integrated system that accommodates the total AV needs of the OR
VTS transfers the knowledge gained during the needs assessment phase into a functional and quantitative proposal which is presented to our clients and will be reviewed and modified as required. Picture of operating room
Each Operating Room Control System is customized, and a new set of screens must be designed for each system. VTS’ experience with integration allows us to design screens that provide the customer with a great deal of functionality, while being easy to use.

The programming for an Operating Room Control System is very complex – modules must be written for each device that needs to be controlled. Typically a small system will control at least 2 video switchers, 2 video scalers, surgical lights, room lights and a DVD player. A more advanced system may control over 20 different devices. Each piece of equipment is placed in the rack in positions designed to facilitate future maintenance and minimize the buildup of heat.

Prior to being shipped, the complete system is assembled and tested to the fullest extent possible. Once the installation of the hardware is completed, the entire system is thoroughly tested.

Once programming is complete, the touch panel program is tested to ensure that every button produces the expected result. Should a button produce an unexpected result, the problem must be corrected. If any changes are made to the system, then every button must be checked again to ensure that the changes did not produce any unexpected results.

Once the installation of the hardware is completed the entire system is thoroughly tested.

VTS trains the hospital staff such as physicians, nurses and biomed engineers, on how to use the system. Our technicians will be present for the first case with the new system.

VTS has been asked to train various audiences for various objectives. For example, VTS trains medical equipment companies who sell VTS integration to their customers and prospects.

VTS trains hospital personnel on the use of integration systems:

  • Biomed engineering, physicians and nurses
  • In-service training of hospital personnel

The components used for the system are documented along with their serial numbers and any other relevant information. The hospital is given a description of the system functionality, a list of the components installed, and a copy of the manual for each device. VTS keeps a manual on file for each component used.

The room layout and positions of the installed equipment are documented. A copy of the touch panel program is stored on the main file server (which is backed up regularly). Any complaints are documented and investigated.

VTS guarantees true accountability for the integrity of the video and audio in the integration system. Our technicians and engineers provide expert troubleshooting both onsite and via telephone. We offer comprehensive maintenance agreements and extended warranty plans. Monitor testing area
