Thoracic Surgery OR integration

Upon VTS’ completion of the Thoracic Surgery OR integration project, a collaborative effort was undertaken between Bellevue hospital administrative staff, STERIS, a leading supplier of lights and booms and VTS executive and marketing staff to showcase the state-of-the-art technology that will benefit both healthcare practitioners and patients. Physicians want to work in an OR with leading edge technology and patients want to be treated where the best physicians practice and in a hospital that is known to be technologically advanced.

The benefits of OR integration such as that done at Bellevue are improved room utilization resulting in better room turnover and more procedures per day per room. In addition, improvements in practitioner productivity and collaboration translate into better patient care. As a result, physicians want to use ORs that are efficiently designed and provide a state-of-the-art workplace environment. This serves to enhance the hospital’s image as a leading edge place to practice.

VTS’ vendor neutrality protects the hospital’s investment in existing lights, cameras and equipment management systems by being able to integrate these existing products into a state-of-the-art system alongside new, leading edge products.
