VTS integrates fiber solutions to provide the highest level of video quality in difficult situations. The VTS Fiber Optic Transmission System offers a fiber optic solution for any present or future environment where distance, accessibility, video quality and/or noise from electromagnetic interference must be overcome.
The VTS Fiber Optic Transmission System delivers perfect video signals that are indifferent to distance and interference. Small diameter fiber cables carry multiple signals and can be installed in a single conduit without “crosstalk” and overcrowding. At the time of a fiber cable installation, additional fiber cables can be installed at a very low cost that could be used in the future (dark fiber), making the VTS Fiber Optic Transmission System virtually future proof.
The VTS Fiber Optic Transmission System allows for heterogeneous systems integration supporting any number of sources with any number of signals per source (see Fiber Optic Transmission System and Photo by clicking on the navigation to the left).
The signals can be transmitted from many different sources, bi-directionally if necessary, among all the possible destinations within or outside the operating room.
VTS will recommend and install a combination of copper and fiber cables in our OR integration projects, optimizing each for the best signal delivery at the lowest cost. VTS will recommend fiber if a boom arm requires multiple signals to be delivered through it, and there is not enough physical space to fit all the necessary copper cables. Also, if the video signals from the OR have to be routed to a consultation room, another OR, a conference room, pathology and/or a surgical theater (training room), VTS will recommend that fiber be used for the application if distance is a factor limiting the use of copper between the rooms. Fiber will also be used if interference, i.e.; EMI/noise/crosstalk, within the rooms or throughout the infrastructure of the hospital is a concern.
The VTS Fiber Optic Transmission System is unique to the Operating Room environment. Our solution can be rack mounted, mounted on an Equipment Management System, delivered through a boom arm or any combination of the three.
The VTS Fiber Optic solution supports the following video formats:
- Composite
- S-Video
- RGBHV, RGBs, RGsB
- DVI
- SDI / HDSDI
Audio and RS-232 signals are supported as well. Single channel and multiple channel units deliver combinations of video, audio and signaling over single or multiple fibers.
VTS will customize the Fiber Optic Transmission System based on the functionality required in a particular OR systems integration. Because no two facilities are the same, a needs assessment is performed and the best solution for a fiber or mixed fiber/copper installation will be determined based on the requirements of the system and the limiting factors of the physical plant to utilize copper alone.
